The studio is located 40 km from Minsk. Here, the complete cycle of creation unfolds: from months-long atmospheric curing of raw timber to sculptural carving and fire finishing

Unformed Mass

Birch burl has no regular geometry. It cannot be calculated or measured with a ruler: its texture forms over years. Each growth has its own structure, curves and grain pattern. The master's task is to see the future form within this wild mass

“I recognize in natural form that which is not literally there”

8 hours of boiling in salt brine, followed by multi-stage manual carving and hand-polishing. The surface becomes remarkably smooth to the touch while keeping the natural grain of the material. The final fire charring creates a deep dark texture without paint
