Sculptor | Creator of Sculptural Art Objects
“I recognize in natural form that which is not literally there”
My practice is working with birch burl, a complex and unpredictable natural material. It has no regular geometry: it cannot be calculated or drafted with a ruler. The grain forms over years, and my task is to see the future form within this shapeless mass.
I work by hand, using fire charring and other wood processing methods. Preserving the unpredictability of the natural form, I bring it to the state of an independent work.
Each work exists in a single copy and cannot be repeated
